The only noise I have ever heard is from the newer units that do not use
a pilot light for gas. The "spark" ignition systems can cause
interference during those times where the heater is firing up. I recall
this at my folks house with 1975 circa heaters with add on ignition
systems. We just replaced the heater at our home a few years ago and I
don't recall hearing this same noise here. It could be that I am used
to it and it goes away quickly. I don't recall hearing anything on
our AC/heater combo in Montana which was installed in 2004.
