Hi Ken,
Don't be fooled... Outlet testers can only reliably verify the wiring of
the three wires connected each individual outlet, they cannot detect
many other dangerous wiring errors commonly found in old houses or
in houses wired by unqualified personnel. This is especially the case for
nearly one hundred year old knob and tube wiring, which did not use
ground wires and often uses bizarre neutral wiring configurations to
save a few feet of wire.
Perhaps the most common problem is with ground wires which ideally
should carrying little or no current, but in the real world do carry leakage
currents and ground currents induced by non-code compliant appliances.
Ground wires can carry many amperes of current in an incorrectly wired
house, a common problem in old houses with knob and tube wiring.
The best way to avoid problems in a computer network is to use
relatively inexpensive wifi connections. Modern wifi devices can span
up to 300 foot distances, depending on the obstructions between the
end points of each connection and the wifi technology used

Roger, I read your post about hooking up a light bulb and it was interesting
then I got to thinking that he's doing the same as my little green plug in
gizmo I bought at HD.
