I've seen and witnessed it many.....many times with SMPSs from China over
the last 15 years or so. It happens more than you might imagine. One year
of testing as a consultant, I had to send 100% of the SMPS's back for lack
of decoupling in either the AC or DC lines. The real estate was there for
the components, but they were jumpered once the supply had passed
regulatory qualifications. Very common practice!!!
this is another report that underscores my belief that FCC should
establish inspection teams at all ports where off-shore electronic
products come in. They should be able to randomly pull out items from
containers and examine them for this sort of thing and have the
authority to bar the entire cargo from entry. I guarantee you, that
once a couple of huge container ships are ordered to turn around and
go back to China or wherever they came from, this sort of practice
will completely stop.
