I find it impossible to understand why the "complexity" of rule changes are
necessary, seemingly to "protect" M/M entries? Does the least entered
category deserve such elaborate rule definitions that entrants in other
multi-op categories, not only must have their specified category defined,
but must make sure that their band change strategy does not move them into
another category? What ever happened to the idea of "having a few friends
over for a contest and have some fun", be competetive and not to have to
re-design your station? That possibility still exists, as long as your
station is equipped for "more than one radio" operation. There no longer
exists a "multi-op" category for a "one radio" equipped station? The
definitions used in radiosport regarding the word "single", has left me
wondering whether or not a "single" dollar is really one (1), or could it
possibly be more? Multi-Single allows a second transmitter, while a single
band entry allows only contacts on one (1) band to count for score, in most
contests? The "define as it suits" applications of the rules has drastically
changed the way I choose to operate! With the number of new stations that I
have worked in the last few contests indicating an increase in RTTY
contesting, leaves me to wonder, if/when they realize that they cannot
"really" compete with a modestly, one radio, equipped station, will they
still be around? Contest Managers....are you listening?
