Hi all,
Some very interesting figures from JARTS this year (and probably other years
too, if I had bothered to look!), but here are a few stats from my log:
(all 00's and 99's have been filtered out)
Average age 50.6 yrs
Median age 51
Most frequent ages 52 & 55 (20 instances of each)
Oldest 80, youngest 15
4 people in their teens (1 at 15, 2 at 17, and 1 at 19)
10 in their 20's
49 in their 30's
108 in their 40's
124 in their 50's
71 in their 60's
12 in their 70's
and just one 80 year old!
In a table, it looks as though there is a high concentration of people
around their mid 40's!
Well, as I am 49 this year, I will be in the "next bracket" in JARTS 2003!
There were plenty of "new" calls around (or so it seemed), and I guess one
should assume that their ages would be across the range.
I just hope I still have the enthusiasm for a RTTY contest when I am 80!
