Thanks for the replies.  One thing I have found so far using the MPFilter
program is that when in RTTY mode the selected filters are as follows
NOR   both 2.4k
NAR1  both  2.0
NAR2  both 250
I thought narrow1 should select the 500Hz filters.  I can swithch in the
different filters and see their effects using the Filter progam so I know
they are there, it is getting them switched in at the right time which is
confusing me.
