I know of no "ideal mode" suited for a long exchange! CW/SSB allows our, in
most cases, most technological advanced item...our brain...to come into
play. When it's necessary to rely on decoding devices, especially in
marginal band conditions, to provide the necessary information, IMHO, "the
shorted the better"?
I can see it now, with a "sweepstakes" type of exchange
