Hi all,

The format of some buffers should certainly be given some thought!
I appreciate the problems of you guys living in DElaware, (and I wouldn't
have minded finding even one in the RRU!!), and INdiana, but this isn't the
only problem.
And what about ARkansas in TU 599 AR DE AB4AB, or those VE's in SK?? I am
sure there are others too!

As a "mostly S&P" contester, I would like it very much if folk started to
end their CQ or QRZ? calls with CQ, or something to indicate they were
soliciting calls.
I came across CQ TEST DE XX1XX XX1XX KN, QRZ? DE XX1XX PSE KN, QRZ DE
XX1XX, and various other oddities, which meant I sat and watched for longer
than necessary. And what a pain when you get DE SQ7B, SQ7B, SQ7B, !!
Another one you have to type in by hand!

As someone said, help probably isn't required by many of us on this list, so
maybe we have to try and educate some of these guys.

Regarding the friend file, well, I find it can be helpful, especially in
poor conditions. I got RGR G0SUP PHIL UR 599 001 001 DE XX1XX on several
occasions, and then I know it was destined for me, and not a mis-read call.
I am not in favour of mass-produced friend files, though, as this can lead
to all sorts of problems.
I seem to be listed as MR P F H in one of them! Not that I mind that, but
what a waste!
I create my own friend file from experience, knowing who doesn't like it,
QSL cards received etc, and I also try and keep it well below 64k in size.

At the end of the day, it is only fun, and not a matter of life and death,
but I think we need to be prepared to change the buffers on the fly
depending on conditions. I found I had to send my serial number 4 times to
reduce the amount of repeat requests.
Apart from that, I wish some folk would use their calls when sending an
exchange! I had several instances of TU 599 001 001 KK and I hesitated
before logging them!

Oh well, back to do some work!

Very best 73 to all
Phil GU0SUP
