Right you are. Trouble is, with a computer you don't need an "enter"  
key. It's called word wrap and most all programs do it by default. I  
wonder why TTY machines don't have it. Many typewriters do.


The Teletype Model 28 offers a mod kit for automatic CR LF that will trip  at 
the end of a line, usually the 73 character. This has worked well for  me, 
especially when my machine is running in a contest and I can't afford to  miss 
an exchange that might pile up at the end of a line.
 
The Teletype Model 28 can also be modified to prevent overlining - receipt  
of a CR but no LF causing a perfectly good line of printing to be overtyped 
with  new data.  Good for RTTY Art but not so good for a QSO or a contest.
