A CR at the beginning of the line is a must IMO, but at the end a
space is better than a CR. Why? Because if the other guy is chasing
your report with a mouse, why have the line jump just as he's ready
to click? Not all software works that way, but there is plenty that
does. A space separates the wheat from the chaff equally well as a CR
and that's all that's necessary.
