I've been told by the LoTW help desk in early 2005 that when you upload your
log with dupes, that it resets the flag that says you have this contact
assigned in the DXCC award.

In other words, if you have a QSL accepted for the DXCC award and someone
reloads that QSO, then the LoTW records shows the QSL wasn't applied to an
award. There is no loss of the record, but it is confusing. You just have to
email the LoTW help desk and tell them including what call is wrong and they
will reload your data for you via some overnight process.

I've noticed this happen to me 3 times for 3 different calls last year, but I'm
not sure if it is fixed or not. Hopefully, since I haven't had this problem
happen in a long time, that it was finally fixed. Since one of the calls was
from a big contester, I would think that it has happened to others too, but
that depends on how many people have used LoTW to apply for the DXCC award.
I've used it twice to update my DXCC counts and it is so quick and easy to do.
Much nicer and faster than submitting cards to be checked.

So maybe that is why they are saying not to load dupes?

And I think LoTW is the best thing since sliced bread or maybe even better! :-)

It's not "good form" but it does not cause any harm other
than resetting the "QSL date" if the data happens to match
the other station's entry.
