Ran RTTY with both the TR-3 and the TR-4.  That was back in the model 15 
days.  I upgraded to the TR-4C because the TR-3 kept changing frequency with 
the model 15 shaking around.
I used the Autek QF-1 for an audio filter and it worked OK (still use one on 
my FT-840).  Not as good as DSP, but it does work.  Probably spent about 4-5 
years with the TR-4.  Go for it.  73
