Thanks Jim!

Jose did a spectacular job! I sent him a congratulatory E-mail. He really
shined this weekend despite having to borrow a 2nd radio
so he could do SO2R. hi He didn't realize he had smashed the USA record until
I told him. 672 mults low power? He must have been
unconscious!!!

It's tough to match someone nearly Q for Q and get beat by over a million
points, but that's the way it is in the WPX. Location is
everything. I can only wait until the sunspots come back and I can run EU on
10, 15 and 20 all day. It's the only shot I have to
get back to the top. Until then, it's great to see others excel. Last year it
was Andrei at K1TTT and this year Jose.

Speaking of Andrei, anyone seen a score from YN2S?

In February 1999, I made my first foray into RTTY/contesting in the WPX
contest. I have entered every WPX RTTY contest since then,
until this year. I moved to Colorado last year, into a community with strict
HOA, so I have been off the air. It was bittersweet
to see all the activity on packet and not be able to participate for the first
time in 9 years.

I was shocked when I just checked the SOAB LP claimed scores:

Call QSOs Pts Prfxs hr Score Club
  USA SOAB LP
  KS1Y(N1BAA) 1703 4776 672 27 3,209,472 YCCC
  AA5AU 1671 3893 546 30 2,125,578

Congrats to Don for a super effort (breaking the SOAB LP USA record) set in
2005, even without meeting all his goals. And congrats
to Jose N1BAA for his record-breaking effort! I'm sure there are a log of
Europeans in his log.

I am the sponsor for the SOAB LP plaque, and I was joking with Mike K4GMH last
week about sending in my check for Don's plaque.
Sorry, buddy!
