Adding to the other replies:
The convention for packet spots and logging is that the frequency you
spot or log should be the mark frequency as transmitted over the air.
If you are using FSK, that should be the same as your TX dial display.
The problems arise when using AFSK. You must allow for the frequency
offset from the suppressed carrier of your LSB or USB setting. This is
easy to get wrong and is the cause of numerous packet spots that are
way off frequency. Some transceivers have the capability to shift the
frequency display automatically but with most you have to do the math
manually.
If you are using AFSK,please spend some time cogitating over this and
then check on the air with someone who you know is using FSK to verify
what your mark frequency really is.
