Yes, contesting software is available for the Mac.
In addition to the rudimentary "contest interface" that is built into
cocoaModem, there are two other Mac OS X programs that have logging
interfaces focused specifically for contesting. cocoaModem's contest
interface is not really meant for serious contesting, it just has dupe
checking and Cabrillo generation, plus some repeating macro facilities.
One Mac OS X program is VE3VRW's MacLoggerDX v5, and the other is
DL2RUM's RUMped. The former is not free but all serious Mac-using
ham has bought a copy (just ask Roberto EA2RY :-).
RUMped is free. In addition to be able to use PK232 and the SCS-PTC,
RUMped can also go through cocoaModem's faceless interface for RTTY,
PSK and Hellschreiber.
I know of a couple of other ongoing efforts to create contest software
for Mac OS X. One is a Cocoa-based program that K1GQ is writing, but
Bill will probably never make it publicly available (K1GQ is the
keeper of the open version of CT, and understand the demands of
contesters) ; so far it does not do RTTY (someone would have to get
the KC1XX bunch to do RTTY :-).
Another upcoming program is a yet to be finished REALbasic-based
program that will also be using the faceless cocoaModem for RTTY and
PSK31.
On top of that, all current Macs can use parallelization to use
Windows programs. I.e., no one is limited to using only MacvOS
applications as long as they also purchase a license for Windows XP or
Vista.
