Hello,
Did anyone notice the void of broadcast stations on the 40 meter band during
the recent EA RTTY Contest? I did and took advantage of it.
Prior to the contest, local SSB DX ops. were commenting on how nice it was
to work Europe in the early evening now that the broadcast stations had
vacated 40 meters below 7200 KHz. Figured if the BC stations were gone and
the European SSB stations were easily heard above 7125 KHz, then RTTY should
be able to readily spread out above 7050 KHz. Sure enough, went to 7059 KHz
and had a great time by being in the open.
Nice to have all the open space on 40 meters for RTTY contesting.
