I've used MMTTY extensively as well as just about every other software-based
modem including RITTY years ago. I've also used a dozen different terminal
units and have homebrewed several more, including a DSP-based one. I've
found nothing I like better than the combination of cocoaModem and a good 24
bit audio interface.
