I plan on doing a graph which will show the distribution in five-year age
groups. This was done previously by Hisami 7L4IOU in 2009
and I have those results. I'm not sure I'll get it done today but I'll try.

For the the type of question being asked, the median is usually a more
meaningful metric - the point where half the sample is
greater than and half is less than.
Since human beings have an upper limit to age :-(, the difference is pretty
small. On the other hand, take a town with 10,000
residents and ask each their net worth. Calculate the median and average. Now
have Bill Gates and Warren Buffet decide to call the
town home and recalculate. You'd find that median better represents the
"typical" then average does.

The average age for the 2583 callsigns was 56.85 or rounded to 57 years old.
Actually this is younger than I thought it would be.
I thought perhaps the average age would be in the 60s.
The median age was 58.=
