Hi Dick

I have owned a FT3000-DX and can answer your questions:

1) How well does it work for RTTY receive? Do you use the 300hz or 600hz
roofing filter?

I had to purchase the optional 300Hz roofing filter - without it the RX was
swamped too easily in contest conditions.

2) How well do you like it's FSK transmit?

Perfect!

3) Have you been able to get the radio to operate RTTY transmit and
receive by only using a USB connection from the FTDX3000 to your CPU? (without
using the rear 3000's RTTY jack and without using the 3000's audio output
jack)
You could, but that would only be AFSK i.e. the audio generated in the computer and fed to the radio. The USB gives you an additional computer soundcard (which happens to be in the radio rather than the PC). For FSK you have to use the ACC for PTT and the RTTY port for the FSK keying.

Hope this helps

Mark
