Joe, it looks like you are supporting what the ARRL has been saying about
Symbol Rates :-).
By adding more tones (thus more bits per symbol) you can make the bandwidth as
wide as you want, even if the Symbol Rate is fixed. The bandwidth is therefore
unlimited by the current rules. The bandwidth of a signal is definitely not
limited by Symbol Rate. It is however related to SNR and the data (bit) rate
(Shannon's Noisy Channel Theorem).
This is precisely why I have been saying why I don't care if the Symbol Rate is
raised, but I myself think it is unwise to use high symbol rates in a Rayleigh
channel with multipath.
