I did not renew my ARRL membership years ago. Even then, whoever coined the
phrase - "Follow the money" was right.
At the time I learned that most of the money 'flowing through' the ARRL and
it's paid staff was for the purpose of Lobbying.

Lobbyists are required to make certain filings and disclosures -- which
sometimes are difficult to find or understand. That's when I was shown (by a
Washington
insider) where the much of the ARRL funding was derived.
Membership is only a part of their 'income' and the pay of the lobbyists
dwarfed that !!

Thus, I parted ways with the ARRL. Surely, some works of the ARRL are
beneficial. So were some of the donations made by Al Capone, Boss Tweed, Big
Tobacco, and others.
The funding source certainly deserves consideration.
