Oh yeah, that's right. I had forgotten the reason. The Prolific drivers are
fine but they don't support the knockoff chips. And the drivers that "work"
with the knockoffs are usually crap. If you lose the CD that comes with the
product (been there, done that), good luck finding a driver on the internet
that works or that doesn't come from a site loaded with viruses. Or porn
advertisements.

Some Prolific chipsets are knockoffs. The Windows 10 Prolific drivers won't
work with them. FTDI based USB-serialport adapters work fine on Win10.
