Maybe nothing to do with it John, but I had the exactly same problem when
running the linear amp - which turned out to be rf getting on to the FT1000D
CAT cable. A clip on ferrite on the cable fixed it.

Since the polltime has been set at 60 by default I have noticed that the
frequency readout under the call field is very eratic, I did not think much
of this until the other night after doing the CC contest I went into check
the cabrillo log that was just about to be emailed off and noticed that the
frequency in the cabrillo was also eratic, I was running for the 1st 50 mins
on 3627 and the frequency was going all over, has anyone else got this?
