John,

Actually the problem is at the receiving end.  There is not a lot one can do
if the receiving station can't decipher correctly what is sent.  Could this
be an example of the tape vs on the air syndrome?  I think so.  What it
seems to me is that the CW ability is decreasing at an alarming rate on the
bands.

Try CQing at 30 + during a "non contest" and see how many calls you get.  Or
better yet,  see how SLOW the replies are...ie 15wpm.
