Double Bzztttt!
If you're looking for a Sweepstakes antenna for the low bands,
I would stay away from anything vertically polarized.
For 40m, (from North Alabama) I would use a dipole at 40'
pointed at Cleveland, Ohio. A Yagi pointed at Oregon would
cover the long stuff west.
For 80m, again, a dipole at 90' pointed at Cleveland would kick
butt.
Those vertically polarized antennas work great for DX, but for SS,
gimme a low dipole anytime.

Bzzzttt. Requires a good ground. Try the 1/2 sloper. The tower will
act as the "good ground" and be more efficient and less messy. I used
this antenna at my QTH in Lilburn and it worked VERY well. I could easily
work Europeans on 80M CW with 100w.

PS: Be careful taking antenna advice from a guy who spends more time
fishing than he does operating the radio. :)
