Hello all:

A big DX contest, a 6 meter contest, two state/province QSO parties, a
Kid's Day activity, and a Spanish islands contest this weekend. RTTY
guys note that the Quebec QSO Party includes Digital and the Spanish
island contest includes RTTY.

1. All Asian DX Contest CW. 00 Sat to 24 Sun. UTC. Asia works the
world. 160- - 10 M. Exchange: RS + age in years. YLs may send RS +
00. US auxilliary military radio stations do not count. (I'd work them
anyway and let the sponsors delete according to their definition.)
Multipliers are WPX Prefixes in Asia. JD stations on Ogasawara are in
Asia. JD stations on Minami-tori Shiama are not. No maritime mobile
stations count as being in Asia. The webpage has a list of prefixes in
Asia. Note that parts of TA and 8Q are not in Asia. Also, there is a
jump from the webpage to a page on "Guidelines for E-mail submission of
JARL Contest." For the first time in seveal years, those of us who use
the CT logging program may submit those files for contest credit,
subject to the guidelines contained on that page. Good news for me as
CT is the only logging program I have loaded on a computer right now
that is configured for the AA contest and I have been being disqualified
because it didn't meet their old criteria.

2. SMIRK QSO Party. 00 Sat to 24 UTC Sun. 6 M CW/SSB. I couldn't get
the rules to print from their webpage. Guess too many graphics. I was
able to download the log/summary sheet. Exchange: 4 letter grid square
(Example: EM73) + SMIRK member number if you have one. QSOs between
stations in the USA and VE1-7 stations must be above 50.150 mhz. In
other words, no QSOs below 50.150 except if one station is outside that
area. I guess no QSOs in the CW band? I hope we get some 6M
propagation this weekend! http://www.smirk/org/rules/htm.

3. West Virginia QSO Party. I still need some counties in this state
all-time. 16 UTC Sat to 02 UTC Sunday. (Saturday afternoon and
evening.) 80-10 CW/SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC or WV County. 35 khz
up from CW low end and 3885, 7235, 14260, 21335, 28535. Bonus points
for QSOs with W8WVA. URL has a summary sheet and official county list
and abbreviations. http://www.qsl.net/wvarrl/wvqp2004.html.
Awards for QRP, LP, and HP.

4. Quebec QSO Party. 80 - 2 M, CW/Ph/Digital. Sat 17 5o 03 UTC.
Exchange: RS(T) + SPC or VE2 Region. List of VE2 regions is on the
URL. You must use the official abbreviations of the Regions for QSO
credit! Digital means RTTY or PSK. Extra points for QSOs with VE2RIO,
VE2RAQI, or VA2RAQI. (That's right, 4 letter suffixes.) Awards for QRP
stations or SOAB. All single ops must run 150 watts or less! If you
run more than 150 watts, you are a multi op!

5. Kid's Day "Contest." 18 to 24 UTC Sat. 20, 15, 10 M + 2M Repeater.
Exchange: name, age, QTH, favorite color. Invite a kid over to
operate under your supervision.

6. Spanish Islands Contest (DIE Contest). 06 to 12Z Sun. 80 to 10 M,
CW, SSB, RTTY. Exchange RST + DIE Ref (or DIEI REf). Non EA area
stations: RST + serial #. 15 minute rule per mode/band (what a good
way to discourage entries from marginal propagation areas!). Extra
points for QSOs with EA5RKX.
http://www.ea5ol.net/die/Die_contest-04.htm. Nice prizes. Top winners
get 1,000 QSLs. Top CW winner gets a CW Key, which may be viewed by a
jump from the webpage.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend and a lot of contacts to warm up for
ARRL Field Day the next weekend.

73,

John, K4BAI.
