Family matters kept me away from all but 2 hours of the SAC SSB. Signals in
and out on 20 (got started at 1833Z).
Worked for 35 minutes and came back later and worked 3 more stations. TRied
40 at 0025Z and put 2 in the log. JW5X was on begging for QSOs with
absolutely no replies
on his frequency or 7188. PS2T with a OH operating was all over with few
replies. I only heard one station that did not listen up and no stations on
the USA band from 7125 to 7200. Later I heard OH0X and OF7M weakly (0400Z).
75 was nearly a bust. For some reason the amp and the IC-740 did not like
each other here (the 740 is my WARC rig). I called SG5X who was the loudest
at S8 but the fuses blew and by the time I figured that out he was gone.
Worked OH1TX as did KY5R but it seemed he was being relayed info like our
complete call and the serial number. HE was a solid S7. I later tried LN3Z
and he heard AI2C but not me or later N4PN. WX3B was working several in
the contest that were just readable. Again PS2T was all over and loud when
I switched to the N/S half square. The LN3 was just as loud on the half
square but decided to go back down to 40,
So 23 QSOs 20 on 20, 2 on 40, and 1 on 75. Just wish I had been on for
the first 6 hours. I see the W3's woked some on 15. Last time I entered
was in the late mid 90's and I put 97 in the log in 5 hours. I seem to
recall over 180 in a mid 1980's effort.
Will get my score together shortly but am busy with the 2007 CQ 160 hand
logs with the reporting deadline looming.
73 Dave K4JRB pardon any typing errors ..in a rush.
