This Week's Contests:
1. QRP Fox Hunt. Thursday night local. 0200-0330Z Friday. 80
meters. Two foxes will be between
3550 and 3570 kHz. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. Work only the two
foxes. 5W maximum power. The foxes are scheduled to be AA4GA, LEE, GA
and AB9CA/4, DAVE, AL. This should be a good week for those of us in
the South East.
2. NCCC NS Ladder. New series starts Thursday local date, 0230-0259Z
Friday. 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W maximum power. One kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC.
3. NCCC ARRL RTTY Round Up Practices. Two of them. 0300-0400Z Friday
(Thursday night local) and 0300-0400Z Saturday (Friday night local). 40
and 80M RTTY. Exchange: RST, SPC, QSO #. Look around 7080 and 3580 kHz.
4. World Wide Peace Messenger City Contest. Apparently Atlanta is a
Peace Messenger City. 12Z Sat to 12Z Sun. 80-10M CW, SSB. Exchange:
RS(T) + PMC abbreviation (if you are in a PM city). Or, if you are not
in a PM city send RS(T) + CQ Zone.
5. QRPARCI Pet Rock Sprint. 15-18Z Sat. 80-10M CW. Exchange: RST +
SPC + QRPARCI# (if you have one) or power. Power Mults. This one
usually has a good turn out of QRP stations.
6. PODXS 070 Club PSK Contest. 24 hours of Saturday. 80-10M PSK31.
Maximum power 100W. Exchange: RST + SPC.
7. ARRL RTTY RoundUp. 18Z Sat to 24Z Sun (24 hours maximum). 80-10M
RTTY, Digital. Exchange: RST + S/P + serial #.
8. EU CW 160M Contest. 2000-2300Z Sat and 0400-0700 Sun. 160M CW.
Exchange: RST + Name + Affiliated Club and club #. Some affiliated
clubs are: CTC, QRPARCI, FISTS, FOC, HSC. Send "NM" if you aren't a
member of an affiliated club. There is a lot of European activity in
this one. QSOs are more likely during the second session. Most QSOs
are European to European, but I have been able to work a few if I stayed
up late enough.
9. ARRL Kids' Day Contest. 1800-2359Z Sunday. 80-10M SSB plus 2M
repeaters. Exchange: name + age + QTH + favorite color.
10. QRP Fox Hunt. Tuesday night local. 0200-0330Z Wednesday. 40M.
Two foxes between 7030 and 7050 kHz. 5W maximum power. Exchange: RST +
SPC + Name + Power. Work only the two foxes who are scheudled to be
KX9KX, SEAN, CT and N8SS, EARL, MI.
11. Adventure Radio Society Spartan Sprint. Monday night local.
0200-0400Z Tuesday. 5W maximum power. 80-10M CW. Exchange: RST, SPC,
Power. Start on 20M around 14060 if that band is open. Move down to 40
around 7040 kHz (and maybe 7030 kHz), and then move to 3560 Khz.
Remember that the next Saturday Jan 11 is the NAQP CW Contest and the
following Saturday Jan 18 is NAQP SSB. Teams are forming. For a SECC
team, please e-mail K4BAI. For an ACG team, e-mail WA1FCN. SECC
welcomes any operator wanting a team, whether or not you are an SECC
member.
