This Week's Contests:
1. North American QRP CW Club Straight Key/Bug Sprint. 0130-0330Z
Thurs (Wed night local). 20, 40, 80M CW. 5W maximum power. Exchange:
RST, SPC, NAQCC# or power. Double score for straight key and 1 1/2
score for bug.
2. Locust QSO Party. 0200-0259Z Thursday (Wed night local).
0200-0229Z on 40M around 7040 kHz. 0230-0259Z on 80M around 3540 kHz.
Maximum power per band depends on your antenna (see rules). 2/1 kHz
QSY rules. No assistance and no SO2R permitted. Bonus points for QSOs
with K6VVA (the "Locust") and for two secret swarmers (who will give
their names as "Locust"). Exchange: both calls, name, SPC. Nice
prizes. This is to celebrate the birthday of K6VVA, Rick. He and
others from NCCC may send their names as "Jack" in tribute to the late
Jack Troster, W6ISQ.
3. QRP Fox Hunt, Thursday Night, 80M. 0200-0330Z Friday. Two foxes
(K9XE RAY IL and N4KV JOHN TN) will be hiding between 3550 and 3570 kHz.
Maximum power 5W. Exchange: RST + SPC + Name + Power. Work only the
two foxes.
4. NCCC NS Ladder. Thursday night local, 0230-0259Z Friday. 20, 40,
80, 160M. 100W maximum power. One kHz QSY rule. Exchange: both
calls, name, SPC. Look around 40 kHz up on each band plus 1815 kHz.
5. LZ (Bulgaria)Open Contest. 0000-0400Z Saturday (Friday night
local). 40 and 80M CW. Exchange: 3 digit serial # plus serial #
received from your last QSO. Start with 001 000. If your first QSO
gave you 006, for example, you would send to your second QSO 002 006.
Same station may be worked on the same band after the passage of 29
minutes. Work everyone.
6. Hungarian (HA) DX Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1159Z Sun. 160 - 10M CW,
SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + serial # or 2 digit HA county. Work everyone.
7. North American QSO Party SSB. 1800Z Sat to 0600Z Sun. 160-10M SSB.
Exchange: Name + SPC for NA stations and Hawaii. Only Name for DX
outside NA and Hawaii. Mults count per band. Team competition. To
sign up for a team, contact K4BAI for SECC, N4PN for GCG, and WA1FCN for
ACG.
So far for NAQP SSB I have for SECC teams: K4BAI, W4IX, W4SVO, K4NV,
N4XL, KT4ZB, W4MJA, and WC7S. Let me know if you can be on a team and
whether you will be FT or PT and if you will be LP or QRP. You do not
need to be a member of SECC or within any geographical area to be on a
SECC team. I'd like to register the teams Friday night and will be able
to make changes until about 11:15 AM Saturday.
8. ARRL January VHF Contest. 50 mHz and up. 19Z Sat to 0359Z Mon.
Exchange: 4 character grid square.
9. Flying Pigs QRP Club January Run for the Bacon. 0200-0400Z Mon
(Sunday night local). 160-10M CW. 5W maximum power. Exchange: RST +
SPC + FP# or power. Most activity will likely be around 14060, 7040 (or
7030) and 3560.
10. Straight Key Century Club Week Day Sprint (SKS). 0000-0200Z Wed
(Tuesday night local). 160-10M CW. Use a mechanical key. Exchange:
RST, Name, SPC, SKCC# or "NONE." Activity is around 1810 + 50 kHz up on
the other bands.
11. Tuesday Night QRP Fox Hunt, 40M. Same rules as for 80M on Thursday
except different foxes and frequencies are between 7030 and 7050 kHz.
Foxes are scheduled to be: WC7S, DALE, WY and WX2S, STEVE, NJ.
12. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Wednesday local date. Three separate
one-hour mini tests starting at 1300Z, 1900Z, and 0300Z. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 028-038 kHz on each band.
There will be a NAQCC QRP Straight Key/Bug Sprint toward the end of next
week on 160M only, which could be a good warm up and check out for the
big CQ WW 160M contest. I'll summarize these contests next week.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. The W1AW
portable operations this week are from Nebraska and Delaware. I worked
NE last night, but haven't heard DE yet.
