I generally agree, but then we'd probably have to have
CONFIRM ESCAPE WITHOUT SAVING in addition to
CONFIRN EDIT CHANGES

I, too, get bitten by the ESC key several times every contest, and I do wish
to have a way to disable S&P --> CQ mode changeover by the ESC key. I feel
that the present TAB/SHIFT TAB pair do the job well and there is no need to
add any new. "~'" is not a good choice too - you'll be hard pressed to find
this key on many european keyboards, and some do strange things with it.
Escaping further than necessary happens to me when I start sending the
unintended or unintendedly. TRlog sends out at least three letters before
responding to ESC (1000 or more QSOs in the log, 66MHz 486 or 100MHz P5).
Enough time to hit ESC again. With UPDATE RESTART BIN FILE = TRUE it's even
worse.

One

When I was a TRlog novice, I tried to program CQ MENU and EX MENU with
colors from ANSI.SYS sequences - only to discover that Tree does not honor
dos interrupts and other such stuff. Colored function key legends would be
nice, and changing menus when Alt or Ctrl are pressed are even nicer. Mostly
a cosmetic feature, though.

Try INITIAL EXCHANGE = NONE or CUSTOM or some other.
