I am running "smartdrive" but no disk cache. "Ramdrive" is presently
commented out in my config.sys.

Using Win98 but not using the GUI to run TR in DOS.

Here is my config.sys file:

DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
rem device=c:\dos\ramdrive.sys 2048 512 64 /a
rem device=c:\windows\ramdrive.sys 2048 512 64 /a
BUFFERS = 40,0
DOS=UMB
rem LASTDRIVE=E
rem FCBS=4,0
DOS=HIGH
STACKS = 18,512
FILES = 40
rem SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM C:\DOS\ /E:1024 /p

mem:
                        Total           Used            Free
Conventional    640K            19K             621K
Upper                   123K            74K             49K
Reserved                384K            384K            0K
Extended (XMS)  39,813K 2,333K  37,488K

Total under 1M  763K            93K             670K

Largest free upper memory block 36K

MS-DOS is resident in upper memory area.

Ramdrive.exe is in the Windows dir.

I took out the rem on  " rem device=c:\windows\ramdrive.sys 2048 512 64 /a"
but did not see any improvement. Guessing somehow it's not set up correct.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike W9RE

Are you using a disk cache?
