A while back, I wrote to ask about a fair price for a 555 Scout.
At that time, I didn't have all the details on the rig. Now, I do.

Unfortunately, this rig was part of the station owned by a good friend, who
is now a SK.
Two close friends are handling the sale of his ham gear.

The particulars are: noise blanker installed, six band modules, no mike
(he was an avid CW fan, and fellow member of FISTS), about one year old,
excellent condition.

He bought this rig about the time I bought my Index Labs QRP+ and we had
debated the two rigs at length. The feature that caused me to go with the
QRP+ was the band modules. It seems to me that the contacts would wear or
have a sloppy fit after multiple removals/insertions, such as a contest,
not to mention the convenience.

Now, in his memory, I'd like to buy this Scout for my collection and use.
There is also a Norcal 40A and a 38 Special that are unbuilt, but I'd
prefer to keep a rig that he actually used, going. I'd be happy to have
one of his bugs or paddles, but the family wants to keep those.

Under these circumstances, what do you recommend as a fair price? I could be
safe and offer the price of a new Scout, similarly equipped, I suppose.

Please give me your best advice on this.

Thanks...Jim - KF6CR
