Hi folks; Jim made some interesting points but some of them fly in the face
of history. If incentive license
and shrinking markets were to blame for American
Radio Mfg.'s decline then how did Yaesu,Trio and Inoue not only survive, but
indeed prosper to take over
the entire U.S. market? They drove around the US
begging for dealers and offering to carry the inventory
in order to get shelf space. They designed their
products to be acceptable to world markets and
they designed with the world as a market in mind, not
just Ja or the US. They were hungry and they did
what they always do; come into your market and
take away your low end (the least profitable) and
before you know it they own the top end too. They are
good at what they do and they made quality key before it was fashionable
here in good old USA. Ya
gotta give 'em that at least. They give new meaning
to the term "Think Globally and act locally".
Chuck W7MAP said that.....

Competitive Advantage is defined as :
    Better, Cheaper, Faster-Pick any two.

Paradigm Shift is defined as:
Better, Cheaper, Faster-Ya get all three!

>Jim and the TT fans,
>About 1967 or so incentive licensing took away HF priviledges from many of
us.
>Some got so mad they became inactive in the hobby, and also, the change in
>licensing did in many a high school ham club.
