I think the label on the back panel is a poor idea because over time,
labels become soiled. Some even deteriorate until they look bad and as
an added bonus, won't come off, short of using toxic chemicals. The
maintenance log is an excellent idea. I use a blank side of a page in
the instruction manual of each piece of my gear that I have modified.
If I ever sell the gear, the manual, and the modification log goes with
it.
