I have a Paragon II. The way you zero beat this thing in CW is to
select upper or lower sideband and tune for a zero beat. I usually
use Upper sideband. You then switch back to cw. And you are
right on the frequency. Period. End of discussion.
To prove this to yourself, go to a WWV frequency, and follow this
procedure.
