The AEA MorseMachine MM-3 keyer, now out of production, instead of adjusting
weighting, allows the dot-space and dash-space ratios to be set
independently. The dot-space ratio can be set from 0.5 to 1.5 in 0.1
increments, and the dash-space ratio ranges from 2.0 to 4.0 also in 0.1
increments.
Seems to me that the point is that an outboard keyer, by definition, is a
more sophisticated/complicated/expensive solution than an internal keyer.
