Have seen many post concerning the optical encoders on the Omni 6 xceivers.
I continuously tune the bands when at my operating position. This has caused
quite a bit of wear in the encoder in my 6+.

The tuning shaft felt like their was galling in the bearings or bushing in
the encoder, and had begun to make a lot of noise when turning the shaft.

You may want to get some input from TT service before trying my remedy---
BUT--- it has worked for me. I mix a little silicone spray lube with some 3
in 1 machine oil and apply it to the shaft where it enters the encoder. I
use a toothpick to apply 1 or 2 drops at a time and pull the shaft out
slightly ( few thousandths/ inch) to help it work its way in.

Spins smooth as silk now and been doing so for over 6 months. Also saved me
$40 or so for a new one. Good Luck.
