The Omni 5 used at least 3 different designs for band switching. Some
used relays other used diodes and yet others used transistors. All
used one big reed relay for keying the antenna. Personally, I've had
less problems with relays than with the other 2 methods. Diodes work
fine but can easily be ruined by strong EMP. It'a also amazing how hot
those switching diodes run. Try putting you finger on one sometime.
