One thing I have never heard about, however (and I think it is probably the
only thing lacking on a T-T rig), is a paoramic display. This would allow
for genuine competitive operating. So, what recommendations can you make for
adding some sort of pan display to my Paragon I or Omni-V?
For a long time I operated mainly VHF contests using my Omni V as an IF rig
for xvrters. Just started in HF contesting a bit recently. I thought the
same thing. Then, I got a panadaptor for my backup rig which is an FT101ZD.
I found it to be of very little use. I thought that I would be able to spot
new signals as they showed up. What I found was that there were perfectly
readable signals that didn't even register on the screen. In fact, the only
ones that did were way over S9. If I cranked up the gain to try to see them,
they were lost in the grass.
