Yes, I know that......but my tuner no like the VSWR down there - it gets
really annoyed when I try loading it up!!! Ten Tec 238 into 450-ohm ladder
line..........

Better solution is to put up near-resonate antenna making less work for the
tuner, this is on my to-do list, but the xyl keeps moving it to the bottom
of her do-to list...U G H!

....but thanks for the kind thought.....k6sdw

Avlia: With a properly designed antenna tuner and low loss line you can
operate your antenna on the lower CW end of 80 meters with no problem and
very high efficency. The antenna itself does NOT have to be resonate for it
to radiate with high efficiency. One only needs to resonate the SYSTEM
which includes the antenna and transmission line and any tuning devise. One
can locate the tuning devise at the rig for convenience. This assumes low
loss transmission line is used. (A high swr on the transmission line does
NOT mean the antenna itself is not radiating all the power delivered.) So,
build yourself an antenna tuner or simple matching devise and enjoy
tremendous bandwidth and additional qso's. - Corn- k4own
