I think the reason these rigs are used on a lot of "major" DXpeditions is
because the manufacturer supplies (donates) them. And when you are
budgeting costs for a DXpedition, "free" is a very good price.

I haven't measured it with a QRP wattmeter, Bob...mainly because I
haven't assembled the kit yet! But T-T rates the output at 0-100 watts
and you have measured it at one watt, so I'm pretty sure that it will
go down to five watts reliably.

I'm tempted by the 756 Pro, as well as by the FT-1000D or MP...a lot of
both get taken on DXpeditions, so they must have something going.

This discussion goes around from time to time, and I'm glad to hear
some comparisons with the Japanese top-of-the-line radios and the Omni
6+ in terms of CW operation, which is the reason that a lot of us who
bought the 6+ did so.

to buy the Pro, but got a used 6+ instead. not as fancy, but does
everything i want on CW. no real bells and whistles, but with my 250 hz cw
filter, i can work everything. with a dipole at 25' worked all over the
world.

below 8 watts. yet on my external watt meter, i can tune it down to nearly
0 watts. on 1 watt on my ext. watt meter being shown, i've worked Japan on
my dipole.
