I'm thinking of a new mic for my Scout. The guys in my local net want me to
get a mic that is less bassy than th Ten Tec hand held that I have now and
since I do a little bit of *very casual contesting I'd also like a mic that
would give the 50 watts a bit more punch in a pileup.
I'm considering
a: WGA boomset sold by the Ten Tec outlet (mid range mic not DX/contest)
b: Heil dual element desk mic (4 &5)
c: Heil dual element boomset
questions
1. Why does the Ten Tec outlet store not carry Heil? Is the WGA set a
better match for Ten Tec rigs ?
2. Most of my operating is parked mobile by the side of the road. If I
bought the Heil dual element desk mic (HM 10) I would usually be
hand-holding it. A headset boom mic would be more convenient. However, I'm
concerned about ragchew fidelity. Would the Heil midrange element sound
better in the desk mic housing than it would in the boomset ? Is there an
advantage to the desk set?
tnx & 73
