I cannot tell one iota of difference between the microphones used by the
stations I work.

With all due respect, I know a LOT of people who would take you to task
over that statement. I myself can testify that by the audio reports I get
comparing my "rig-standard" microphones with Heil's, show a GREAT
difference.
