View about CW from Russia:
1. "First a strong belief that Morse testing is the big difference
between Amateur Radio and the Russian version of Citizen's
Radio Services.
2. The Russian Federation also points out that lowering the
code requirement in many other nations has not led to a
significant increase in the number of hams in those countries.
3. The Federation says that it surveyed Russian radio operators
and found overwhelming support for retention of the code and
the Russians say Morse is one of the most effective means
of communication in emergencies with clear benefits in reducing
interference on the high frequency bands".
Well, we went over these a few years ago as the US amateur
community went through the license restructuring process.
Only possible new point is the evidence that there have not
been a large influx of new amateur licenses in the US, contrary
to what No Code International was presenting as one reason
to restructure and drop CW altogether.
We are almost exactly at 10,000 added license holders since
restructuring commenced in April of 2000, for details, see:

Biggest impact on our ranks: 26,560 more Extra Class
license holders, and 29,760 more General Class holders.
Great drops in the Novice and Advanced classes. Also
the Tech and Tech+ have dropped about 10,000 holders.
