How do we know there aren't any Orions heard?
Who tells everyone the name of their rig every contact? I know there
are some of you out there that want to know the rig, antenna, tower,
computer, software, feedline, amplifier, rotor, speaker, tnc, soundcard,
mic, watch, type of underwear, etc, etc, etc.
The only time I tell someone what rig, antenna, power or any type of
station / location / name information is when the other ham asks. I
figure if it's a DX station working a pileup and they aren't asking
everyone their name, rig, etc I don't need to slow them down by giving
them the minute details of my life.
I find it excruciating to listen to people drag someone that just wants
to make contacts during a band opening into some long drawn out contact.
If the ham on the other end has been ragchewing with others, fine by all
means ragchew. But if they are trying to make a bunch of 59 / tu
contacts it's their choice let them...
End of rant.
