This question has come up a couple of times.
The Orion has no provision for taking ALC input from an amp. It's
generally unnecessary with tube amplifiers. However, one contributor
pointed out that the SS amps (Quadra and others) use ALC feedback to
the radio as a first level of protection (by shutting down RF drive) if
something goes awry in the amp.
Might be worth a discussion with Yaesu tech support, about the
advisability of using this amp without ALC to the exciter.
