| I recall that someone else had a similar problem with Studio One paint 
quite some time ago.  Sounds like a significant QC issue that Heil (or T-
T) ought to quickly take care of with a new mic ...   
As for Heil  boom products, I gave up on those and switched to studio 
class booms such as those from O.C. White a long time ago.  Price is 
comparable, and quality/feature is better, IMO.
If only the human body could be updated in firmware :-)
