It depends on the amp you are using. I believe if you're using the 87A or the
89, whenever PIN diode switching is used, then you need to use the Y-cable
described on the Alpha web site. If you're' using the '91b or the '99 or other
vacuum relay switched Alpha, then you can use the TX-En / TX-out keying loop
just as you would a TT amp. That's how I had my '99 wired to the Omni VI+, and
it's how I'm currently wired with my Orion to the '99.
BTW, Alpha is offering the last of their 87A's with gold plated coils, silver
plated capacitors, and calling it the Alpha 87A Omega as a limited offering
before their new replacement amp comes out. It was described to me as one that
will be better optimized for manufacture, and will most likely have new
features. They were not talking much about it when I asked. FWIW.
