I find the s-line in particular to be grossly overrated in both transmit and
receive audio quality (as well as overall receiver performance), with the
KWM-2 being at the bottom of that particular barrel.  And I've always
wondered whether it was that quality that drives the prices of these things,
or price that drives perception. Obviously, there is also a great deal
positive to say about these radios, too, in terms of construction values and
other factors.  But either the CE-100V or HT-37 have far better transmit
audio, and I much prefer late Hallicrafters (sx-101A, 115, 117) for
listenability.

What sounds good and what doesn't is obviously a serious bit of personal
preference :-)
