And throw in probably up to a week for ups there and another week for ups
back , 1 day on the bench for trouble shooting, a couple days or a week to get
the parts from the vendor, a day or two to repair and check out, so there is 3
weeks even if they put you first..

Icom is a larger company. With a lightning warranty repair, they obviously
swapped out the whole mother board to get fast turn around. The surface
mount circuits would otherwise be uneconomical to repair. Remember,
They only have a field depot for repairs.

The design to repair of Ten Tec equipment allows the luxury of actually
fixing the specific problems. Probably has some burn in and test / align
time built in there. What the factory learns about such a catastrophic
failure can result in improved designs in the future rigs.

It all depends on staff vs. work load. You can't expect a small company to
add staff just because your rig was sent in for repair. Be glad that the
repairs are done at the factory! Icom's repairs are certainly NOT done at
the factory.
